So often it’s easy to forget that Hugh Laurie wasn’t always Dr. House. Fans of British comedic television of course know him better as George from Blackadder and Bertie from Jeeves and Wooster. I bring it up because his portraits from this 11th episode of SNL, season 34, remind me of those two roles. The tuxedo portraits being of course Bertie, and the red uniform portrait reminding me of George.

Continuing with the Saturday Night Live collages, this one is of the country singer, Tim McGraw, who hosted the show in Season 34, Episode 9.
It would have been fun to see him do some portraits other than “singer” or “cowboy”. But then other hosts who do original portraits are usually actors or comedians.

The guy has been rocking in all his skits both as host and surprise guest. If you haven’t seen the Motherlover song with Adam Samberg, you owe it to yourself to check it out.

I’m a bit behind on the collages of the Saturday Night Live guest portraits but I’m ready to catch up.
This one is for Alec Baldwin from this season’s Valentine’s Day episode. The Valentine heart was expected but the Citizen Kane and Godfather homages must have been fun to do.

With the exception of Tina Fey/Sarah Palin and Kirsten Wiig’s skits, SNL is very hit-and-miss. Fortunately, the guest portrait shots have been much more fun.
And next is the enigmatic John Malkovich who hosted Saturday Night Live in December of last year.
I particularly like the black & white photo. It has that “elderly statesman of acting” look and is something I would expect from an Annie Leibovitz portrait.

I think this will be a popular one. His Barney Stinson character on How I Met Your Mother notwithstanding, he just seems like an awesome, fun guy to have as a friend.

Only four portraits in this episode. I wonder if the number of photos they use in the episode is dictated by how many good shots they got out of it or the episode’s schedule.
