Since the film is exposed horizontally over time, you can actually squeeze in a subject twice in the same shot. The photographer just has to angle the camera so that the subject is at the edge of the film and once the shutter is pressed quickly rotate the camera. Thus the subject is exposed once at the start of the lens turret’s rotation and once at the end of the rotation.

It’s a beautiful effect that reminds me of diptychs, especially with the blurred section dividing the two halves of the image.
