This is the “Gastrotypographicalassemblage” wall mounted in the CBS cafeteria from 1966 to the 1990s. The 35-foot by 8-foot masterpiece of wooden typography was conceived and created by Lou Dorfsman with help from legendary designer and typographer, Herb Lubalin.

When it was discarded by CBS management, New York designer Nick Fasciano salvaged the pieces and has been slowly restoring it.

Check out the detail and wonderful type in the wall. That’s Lou Dorfsman standing in front of it.



And here is Nick Fasciano painstakingly restoring the wooden letters.
